What if the most accessible product for your brand was not manufactured by your brand at all ?

According to Bloomberg, via the excellent Marginal Revolution blog, out of 100 countergeit bag owners, 46 move to the real thing within 2 and a half year:

The counterfeit actually served as a placebo for brand attachment. People were becoming increasingly attached to the real brand even though they never possessed it at all.
